Specific research projects include: defining geographic markets and assessing market power for hospitals and physicians; measuring the impact of organized labor in the hospital industry on patient outcomes; measuring the marginal returns to hospital spending and treatment intensity, and the effects of public insurance expansions on educational attainment.
